This move marks a strategic shift from previous practices of selling ETH to fund operations. By staking, the foundation can now earn annual rewards estimated between $3.9 million and $5.4 million at current rates, supporting its research and operational needs without liquidating assets. The foundation's treasury holds roughly 102,400 ETH, valued at approximately $210.9 million, with smaller holdings in USDC, BNB, and a fraction of a bitcoin. While the staking initiative does not entirely eliminate the need for ETH sales, it significantly reduces reliance on them. The foundation still holds over 100,000 unstaked ETH, and future plans for these reserves remain undisclosed. Ether traded at $2,059 at the time of the deposits, reflecting a 4.3% decline over the past week.
