Anthropic Forms Global Tech Coalition to Patch AI-Discovered Systemic Vulnerabilities

Anthropic has revealed that its newest frontier AI model, Claude Mythos Preview, has demonstrated an unprecedented ability to uncover software flaws, identifying thousands of high-severity zero-day vulnerabilities within the world's most critical digital infrastructure. These vulnerabilities affect nearly every major operating system and web browser currently in use, posing a significant systemic risk if exploited by malicious actors. In response, Anthropic has established Project Glasswing, a defensive alliance designed to patch these gaps. The initiative represents a rare strategic alignment of fierce competitors, signaling the severity of the threat. The coalition includes semiconductor leaders Nvidia and Broadcom, cloud providers Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, as well as hardware giant Cisco. Consumer electronics and software leaders Apple and Microsoft are participating to secure their respective operating systems and browsers. The alliance is further strengthened by the inclusion of cybersecurity specialists CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks, as well as JPMorgan Chase and the Linux Foundation. Access is also being extended to 40 additional organizations responsible for maintaining critical open-source and proprietary software. To facilitate these urgent repairs, Anthropic is backing the project with $100 million in usage credits and has coordinated $4 million in direct donations to open-source security organizations. This coordinated effort underscores a pivotal shift in the cybersecurity landscape, where AI is now capable of discovering vulnerabilities at a scale and speed that necessitates a unified industry response.
