Lindsey Vonn Weighs Potential 2030 Olympic Comeback Amid Recovery

Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn has indicated that she is not ruling out a return to the Winter Olympics in 2030. While the prospect remains distant, Vonn expressed a desire to compete again, provided she can maintain a competitive speed and physical condition. The potential comeback comes as Vonn recovers from a significant crash during her first downhill run at the Milano Cortina Olympics in February. The accident was severe enough to nearly cost her a leg and has required extensive medical intervention. Vonn is currently utilizing crutches and expects to walk unassisted by the end of April. Her recovery path includes a scheduled surgery later this year to repair a torn ACL—sustained in January—and to remove metal hardware from previous procedures. To date, she has undergone five surgeries. If she returns in 2030, Vonn would be 45 years old, making her one of the oldest skiers in Olympic history. This follows a previous successful comeback from a five-year retirement that saw her regain the top ranking in downhill skiing prior to the 2026 Games. Vonn emphasized that her decision will be based entirely on her body's response to rehabilitation. She noted that she does not want her career to end with the crash experienced in February, stating that she must wait and see how her body responds to the ongoing treatment.
