JBS USA Resolves Greeley Plant Labor Dispute with New UFCW Agreement

JBS USA has announced the finalization of a new labor contract with UFCW Local 7, ensuring the return to full operational capacity at its Greeley beef production site. The agreement provides stability for the workforce and the company after several weeks of labor uncertainty. The contract, which extends through April 2028, adheres to the economic framework previously proposed by JBS USA in its final offer. The resolution comes after a period of tension regarding the structure of employee benefits and wages. A significant point of contention involved the retirement structure. While JBS USA had proposed a pension benefit aligned with a national agreement already accepted by other facilities, Local 7 leadership opted to trade the long-term pension for immediate wage increases. As part of the settlement, the union is withdrawing seven alleged unfair labor practice charges. JBS USA stated that the strike was primarily driven by economic disagreements rather than legal disputes, noting that the disruption could have been avoided had members voted on the company's earlier offer. The resolution allows JBS USA to refocus on investment in the Greeley facility and stabilize its supply chain. The company continues to maintain that its national framework remains the standard for its beef operations across the United States.
