The Indonesian stock market has extended its winning streak to four sessions, driven by positive sentiment from U.S. inflation data. Financials and cement sectors led the rally as the JCI approached the 7,080-point threshold.

  • JCI closed at 7,079.56, up 122.90 points
  • Banking sector saw surges, with BRI gaining 7.63%
  • U.S. core inflation slowdown boosted global risk appetite
  • WTI crude rose to $80.04 amid supply concerns
  • Resource stocks showed mixed results, with Timah falling 3.57%

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) surged 1.77% on Wednesday, closing at 7,079.56. This move marks a recovery from a brief two-day decline and contributes to a broader four-session rally where the index has climbed over 520 points, representing a total increase of approximately 6%. The rally is largely attributed to positive cues from Wall Street, where U.S. markets rose following a Labor Department report showing an unexpected slowdown in annual core consumer price growth. This development has eased investor concerns regarding the future trajectory of interest rates, providing a tailwind for Asian bourses. Banking stocks were the primary drivers of the JCI's ascent. Bank Rakyat Indonesia led the gains with a 7.63% jump, followed closely by Bank Negara Indonesia at 6.78% and Bank Mandiri at 6.48%. Other notable performers included Semen Indonesia, which rose 3.66%, and Astra International, which gained 4.00%. However, the resource sector remained volatile and mixed. While some assets held steady, Timah plummeted 3.57% and Bumi Resources fell 1.61%, offsetting some of the broader market gains. Global energy markets also provided a backdrop of volatility, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures rising 3.3% to $80.04 per barrel. This spike was fueled by a drop in U.S. crude inventories and potential supply disruptions stemming from new sanctions against Russia.
