This latest move was funded entirely by the issuance of $1 billion in preferred stock under the ticker STRC. The strategy underscores the firm's commitment to treating bitcoin as its primary treasury reserve asset, utilizing equity markets to leverage its balance sheet. With this addition, MSTR now holds a total of 780,897 BTC. The aggregate investment stands at roughly $59.02 billion, resulting in an average cost basis of $75,577 per bitcoin. Despite the aggressive accumulation, MSTR shares fell more than 2.5% in pre-market trading.
