Broadcom and Meta Forge Multi-Year Strategic Alliance for Next-Gen AI Infrastructure

Broadcom Inc. and Meta Platforms have announced a comprehensive, multi-generation strategic partnership aimed at scaling Meta's artificial intelligence compute infrastructure. The collaboration focuses on the development and deployment of the Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA) chips, which serve as the foundational backbone for Meta's state-of-the-art AI data centers. This agreement leverages Broadcom's XPU platform and advanced Ethernet networking technologies to enable high-bandwidth scale-up and scale-out capabilities. By co-developing silicon across multiple generations, the two companies aim to eliminate networking bottlenecks and meet the escalating compute demands of next-generation AI models. A primary highlight of the deal is the planned rollout of the industry's first 2nm AI compute accelerator. The initial infrastructure commitment exceeds 1GW, marking the first phase of a sustained, multi-gigawatt rollout planned to continue through 2029. While financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the partnership solidifies Broadcom's role as a critical provider of custom AI silicon and networking hardware.
