Strategy's High-Yield STRC Security Sparks New Crypto Treasury Trend

A new category of crypto treasury management is emerging as firms flock to STRC, a high-yield security issued by Strategy, the world's largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder. The security is designed as a funding vehicle to accelerate Strategy's Bitcoin accumulation, offering investors a monthly cash dividend of 11.5% per annum. The popularity of STRC has reached new heights, evidenced by a record-breaking trading volume of over $1.6 billion on a single Tuesday. This surge is driven by companies and decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols seeking a hybrid approach that combines indirect Bitcoin exposure with a consistent income stream. Several entities have already integrated STRC into their balance sheets. Saturn Credit acquired $15 million in the security shortly after launch, while the on-chain credit protocol Apyx has built a position of 800,000 shares. Additionally, BitStrategy has expressed long-term ambitions to become the largest shareholder of Strategy securities. The asset's reach extends into the Ethereum ecosystem, where approximately $200 million in tokenized STRC exists, with $100 million trading on the Pendle platform to speculate on future yield. However, the stock recently dipped to $99.39, falling below its $100 par value following an ex-dividend date. This price drop has led Strategy to temporarily suspend its at-the-market (ATM) share issuance program.
