Zanzibar police are currently questioning Joe McCann, the founder of the crypto hedge fund Asymmetric, following the death of his fiancée, Ashly Robinson. While Tanzanian authorities have preliminarily ruled the death a suicide, the investigation remains active. Police are reportedly holding McCann's passport pending the results of an autopsy. Family members of Robinson have publicly disputed the suicide ruling, citing her positive state of mind following her recent birthday and engagement to McCann. The legal turmoil comes as McCann's professional ventures face significant headwinds. Asymmetric previously underwent a strategy shift in July following investor backlash over poor performance during market volatility. Furthermore, a planned merger to take a Solana-based treasury company public was abandoned in August.
