India's Wind Energy Sector Poised to Hit 2030 Capacity Targets

Suzlon Energy Ltd., the leading wind turbine manufacturer in India, has expressed confidence that the nation will achieve its ambitious goal of 100 gigawatts of wind capacity by the end of the decade. The company indicates that installations are accelerating to meet a growing requirement for consistent, round-the-clock power supplies. According to Executive Vice Chairman Girish Tanti, the momentum in the sector is largely driven by state utilities, which serve as the primary electricity retailers in the country. Demand from these government entities is projected to reach 107 gigawatts over the next five years. Tanti further noted that the sector is well-positioned to handle potential fluctuations in government procurement. He stated that there is sufficient demand from industrial clients to fill any gaps should state utility purchases fall short of expectations. This diversified demand profile suggests a robust growth trajectory for India's wind energy infrastructure, reducing the reliance on a single buyer class and supporting the broader national transition toward sustainable energy.
