Block and Uber Expand Global Partnership to Integrate Payments and Delivery

Block, Inc. and Uber Technologies, Inc. have entered into a global partnership designed to enhance the operational efficiency of restaurants and provide consumers with greater payment flexibility. The collaboration focuses on two primary pillars: the international expansion of Square's integration with Uber Eats and the domestic rollout of a new payment method. By bridging these ecosystems, both companies aim to reduce friction for merchants and users within the food delivery and transportation sectors. Specifically, Square's native Uber Eats integration will now be available in several key international markets, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Ireland, Canada, and Australia. In the United States, Uber will integrate Cash App Pay, allowing users to utilize the popular digital wallet for rides and food orders. This move is expected to increase payment flexibility for millions of US-based consumers while driving higher engagement for Block's financial ecosystem. Following the announcement, both companies saw modest gains in pre-market trading on the New York Stock Exchange. Block's shares rose 1.49% to $72.80, while Uber's stock climbed 0.98% to $78.00.
