Blockchain Capital Targets $700 Million for New Crypto Venture Funds

Blockchain Capital, a prominent San Francisco-based venture capital firm, is in the process of raising $700 million to expand its investment capabilities across the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The fundraising effort is split between the firm's seventh early-stage fund and its second growth fund, with completion expected within the next five to six months. Led by managing partners Bart and Brad Stephens, the firm has a track record of backing industry giants, including Coinbase, Circle, and Tether. This current initiative follows a 2023 fundraising round where the firm secured $580 million for a combination of early and late-stage funds. Blockchain Capital's investor base is heavily weighted toward traditional finance (TradFi), consisting of sovereign wealth funds, university endowments, and U.S. pension plans.
