Leidos Secures $617 Million U.S. Army Air Defense Contract

Leidos Holdings, Inc. (LDOS) announced on Thursday that it has secured a $617 million contract from the U.S. Army. The agreement focuses on the construction and delivery of additional launchers for the Indirect Fire Protection Capability Increment 2 (IFPC Inc 2), which serves as the Army's newest mobile, ground-based air defense system. This new award builds upon previous contracts totaling $356 million granted in July and September 2025. With the addition of the latest funding, Leidos now manages nearly $1.2 billion in production contracts specifically for the IFPC Inc 2 program. The company has committed to delivering more than 100 launchers under these agreements. The funding is designated not only for the production phase but also for ongoing research, development, and testing. This strategic expansion establishes a foundation for potential subsequent orders extending through 2029. While the contract represents a substantial revenue stream and long-term operational visibility, Leidos shares recently closed at $150.71, reflecting a slight decline of 1.63% in the previous trading session. The scale of the award underscores the company's critical role in the modernization of U.S. Army ground-based defense infrastructure.
