Meta to Scale AI Infrastructure via Massive AWS Graviton Deployment

Meta Platforms, Inc. (META) is significantly expanding its AI infrastructure through a new agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deploy Graviton processors at scale. The partnership involves the initial deployment of tens of millions of Graviton cores, with provisions for further expansion as Meta's artificial intelligence capabilities evolve. The deal highlights an evolving trend in AI architecture. While Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) remain the standard for training large-scale models, the emergence of 'agentic AI'—which requires real-time reasoning, code generation, and the orchestration of complex, multi-step tasks—is driving a surge in demand for high-performance CPU workloads. AWS stated that Graviton5 is specifically engineered for these CPU-intensive requirements, allowing Meta to handle billions of interactions and coordinate sophisticated agent workflows efficiently. This deployment represents a substantial scaling of the existing partnership between the two technology giants. Following the announcement, both companies saw positive movement in pre-market trading. Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) shares rose 1.8% to $259.48, while Meta shares climbed 0.54% to $662.30 on the Nasdaq.
