Block Expands Bitcoin Treasury to Nearly 9,000 BTC in Q1

Block Inc. (XYZ), the financial technology firm co-founded by Jack Dorsey, has expanded its corporate Bitcoin treasury, adding 114 BTC during the first quarter of 2026. This latest acquisition brings the company's total corporate holdings to nearly 9,000 BTC, which is valued at approximately $691 million based on current pricing. This move continues a steady accumulation strategy, as the company held 8,883 BTC at the close of the previous year. Beyond its own balance sheet, Block is responsible for an additional 19,357 BTC held on behalf of its customers. In total, the parent company of Square and Cash App manages 28,355 BTC, representing a total value of roughly $2.2 billion. To enhance transparency, Block has utilized a public proof-of-reserves dashboard. This snapshot, reflecting balances as of March 2026, is supported by cryptographic signatures and third-party audit checks. This system allows independent users to verify ownership of the assets on-chain without requiring access to the company's private keys. While the Q1 addition is modest in size, the continued accumulation by a major payments processor signals sustained institutional confidence in Bitcoin as a reserve asset. The company has indicated plans to continue publishing regular third-party reports to maintain solvency transparency.
