Chiliz Deploys Omnichain Strategy to Solana and Base Ahead of World Cup

Chiliz, the blockchain infrastructure powering sports-focused digital assets, has announced the expansion of its fan token portfolio to the Solana and Base networks. This strategic shift moves the platform toward an 'omnichain distribution' model, integrating its assets across multiple blockchain environments to increase accessibility. By utilizing the Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard, Chiliz aims to eliminate the inefficiencies associated with wrapped tokens and fragmented liquidity pools. This technical implementation allows fan tokens to maintain a unified supply across all supported chains, streamlining the trading experience for global sports enthusiasts. The expansion covers over 70 fan tokens, including those for elite European clubs such as Manchester City, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus. These tokens serve as digital memberships, providing holders with community engagement opportunities, including voting rights on minor club decisions and access to exclusive rewards. The timing of the rollout is specifically designed to capture trading volume spikes associated with the summer FIFA World Cup. Chiliz has already launched tokens for the Argentina and Portugal national teams, with further asset releases scheduled for June to maximize exposure during the tournament.
