Securitize, a leading platform for tokenized securities, has announced a strategic partnership with Computershare, the world's largest transfer agent, to bring U.S.-listed equities onto the blockchain. This collaboration marks a pivot toward the native issuance of stock tokens, moving away from the indirect or synthetic wrappers often utilized by other tokenization providers. By integrating directly with a primary transfer agent, the initiative seeks to ensure that token holders possess actual ownership rights and beneficial interest in the underlying shares. This addresses a critical hurdle in the tokenization space where previous attempts often left holders without true legal claims to the assets. The agreement allows U.S. listed clients to issue equity securities in a tokenized format, creating a streamlined pathway for companies to migrate their share registries to distributed ledger technology.
