Institutional Interest in NextEra Energy Rises as 13F Filings Show Increased Holdings

Institutional investors have increased their exposure to NextEra Energy Inc (NEE), according to a review of recent 13F filings for the period ending March 31, 2026. The data suggests a growing consensus among a segment of hedge fund managers regarding the utility provider's value. The analysis focused on a batch of 75 recent filings, finding that 37 of these funds held positions in the company. Within this specific group, 18 funds increased their existing positions, while 13 decreased their holdings and two funds established entirely new positions. Looking at the broader aggregate of funds holding NEE, the total share count rose from 80,556,951 on December 31, 2025, to 86,457,499 by March 31, 2026. Analysts caution that 13F filings provide an incomplete picture of fund sentiment, as they only require the disclosure of long positions. Because short positions and derivative hedges are not disclosed, a long position may sometimes be part of a larger bearish strategy.
