Air China Limited reported a strong financial recovery for the first quarter of 2026, posting a net profit attributable to shareholders of RMB 1.71 billion. This marks a sharp reversal from the RMB 2.04 billion loss recorded during the same period last year. The turnaround was primarily fueled by a robust increase in top-line growth. Total revenue for the quarter rose 11.3%, climbing to RMB 44.54 billion from RMB 40.02 billion a year earlier, reflecting a recovery in travel demand and operational efficiency. Profitability metrics showed broad improvement across the board. Total profit reached RMB 1.90 billion, compared to a loss of RMB 2.45 billion in the previous year. Earnings per share (EPS) shifted to RMB 0.10, up from a loss of RMB 0.12. When deducting nonrecurring profits and losses, the company reported a net profit of RMB 1.38 billion, further highlighting the strength of its core operations compared to the RMB 2.13 billion loss seen in the prior year. Despite the positive earnings results, shares in Hong Kong closed Thursday at HK$4.690, representing a slight decline of 1.47%.
