Video Evidence Released in Attempted Assassination of President Trump

New video evidence has emerged in the criminal case against Cole Allen, who is accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner. The footage, released by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, provides a detailed timeline of the suspect's actions, including reconnaissance and the eventual breach of security. According to Pirro, the video shows Allen casing the Washington Hilton Hotel on April 24. The following evening, Allen is seen storming a Secret Service checkpoint while armed with a long gun. In response, a Secret Service officer fired multiple shots at the suspect to prevent the attack. The U.S. Attorney's office specifically addressed reports regarding a wounded agent, stating there is no evidence that the officer was a victim of friendly fire. Authorities noted that the agent's injuries were mitigated by protective gear, which stopped the shot. Cole Allen, a 31-year-old resident of Torrance, California, currently faces charges of attempted assassination and other federal crimes. In a recent court appearance in Washington, D.C., Allen waived his right to challenge his pretrial detention, though his legal counsel noted they may revisit this in the future. The FBI and the U.S. Attorney's office are continuing their extensive investigation into the incident.
