Hyundai April US Sales Dip Slightly Amid Strong Hybrid Demand

Hyundai Motor America saw its total sales volume slip slightly in April 2026, reporting 80,157 units compared to 81,503 during the same period last year. Despite the 2% overall decline, the company is seeing a significant shift in consumer preference toward electrified powertrains. Electrified vehicles now account for one-third of the brand's total monthly sales, indicating a successful transition in the product mix. The company achieved record April results for several key models, specifically the Sonata Hybrid and Elantra Hybrid. Additionally, the Santa Fe Hybrid and the newly released Palisade family established new retail records for the month. On the fully electric front, the IONIQ 5, which is assembled in the United States, showed resilience with a 6% growth in sales. This growth reinforces the manufacturer's ongoing commitment to expanding its electric vehicle footprint in the North American market. On a year-to-date basis, Hyundai's performance remains stable. Total sales for the period reached 285,545 units, representing a slight increase over the 285,057 units sold during the same timeframe in the previous year.
