Trinity Logistics Completes Acquisition of Granite Logistics in Strategic Midwest Expansion

Trinity Logistics has completed the acquisition of Granite Logistics, a Minneapolis-based freight transportation and supply chain solutions provider. The transaction, valued at $87 million in cash and stock, was announced on January 5, 2026, and closed without material regulatory hurdles. Granite Logistics operates a fleet of 68 dry van and refrigerated trucks across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Dakotas, serving over 140 clients in manufacturing, food distribution, and retail sectors. The acquisition expands Trinity’s footprint in key agricultural and industrial corridors, adding 32 dedicated dispatch centers and a team of 190 logistics professionals. According to internal integration plans, Trinity expects to achieve cost synergies totaling $4.2 million annually by consolidating back-office operations and optimizing routing networks within 18 months post-close. The move also aligns with Trinity’s long-term goal of increasing its Midwest revenue share from 17% to 28% by 2028. Market analysts note that the deal positions Trinity competitively ahead of rising demand for temperature-controlled freight in the region, driven by agribusiness growth and consumer e-commerce trends. The integration will be managed through Trinity’s recently launched Midwest Regional Operations Division, headquartered in Saint Paul, Minnesota. No immediate layoffs are expected, though operational restructuring is underway to standardize technology platforms across both companies.
