Meta Integrates USDC Stablecoin Payouts for Creators in Emerging Markets

Meta is expanding its payment infrastructure by introducing USDC stablecoin payouts for creators on its platforms in the Philippines and Colombia. This initiative allows influencers, educators, and entertainers to receive earnings directly into crypto wallets on the Solana and Polygon blockchains. The rollout represents a pivot in Meta's approach to digital assets, moving away from its previous attempts to launch a proprietary currency toward the adoption of established industry standards. According to Polygon, the service is expected to scale to over 160 additional markets, providing users with faster settlement and access to dollar-denominated assets. While Meta facilitates the transfer of funds, the company does not provide an internal mechanism to convert USDC into fiat currency. Consequently, creators must utilize external exchanges to liquidate their holdings. Meta has also noted that it reserves the right to use alternative payment methods in the event of technical difficulties. The scale of Meta's creator economy provides a significant foundation for this rollout; the company reported paying creators nearly $3 billion in 2025, representing a 35% increase over the previous year. This adoption comes as Circle's USDC maintains a market capitalization exceeding $77.3 billion, positioning it as the second-largest stablecoin globally behind Tether's USDT.
